Light

Baxter and I work with an organization named GLOW International. It is a ministry that mainly serves in the country of Honduras. The main objective is to spread the Gospel. But we meet as many needs of the people as possible. There are soup kitchens, education programs, children’s home, construction projects, providing clean water….and so much more.

This year marked 10 years of service. It truly is a milestone. One that we are so grateful for. Father has provided every need. If He asks us to do something, He sends what is needed to accomplish that task.

We are an organization that prays. We have seen Father God answer prayers that appeared  impossible to answer. One prayer I pray daily is that He will direct our path. That He will be a “lamp unto our feet and a light unto our path.” And He has been just that.

This year as I prayed about what Father would have us do at this anniversary celebration, He answered me on a ride home from the cancer center late one afternoon in January.

It had gotten dark. Baxter and I were not too far from home. I happened to look out the window to my left. There is a home set back from the road in the woods. The drive winds through the trees. The family had placed lanterns in the trees. They were lit. And there was just enough light to see the way…not too bright…not too dark. It was a lovely sight. And in my heart, I knew what the Spirit was saying.

All these years, we have been walking in His light. It is our “big ask” every day in our prayers. He has been faithful to shine His light for us to see where to go. So we lined the walk to the event with lighted glass globes. Light to see the way.

On the tables, we placed small glass balls. These small, marble-size balls would light up when the tab was pulled. I talked about how all of us carry the light of Christ within us when we give our life to Him. When we believe and confess that Father raised Him from the dead.

We took the house lights down in the meeting room. Each person pulled the tab on their marble. Small lights appeared in the darkness all over the room. I asked them to look around and see. That’s what we are in this dark world. Small lights because Christ dwells in us. It was a beautiful sight.

Then, I asked everyone to take their marble with them at the end of the night. Put it in their pocket. Remind themselves that we carry the light of Christ out into a dark and broken world.

Remember dear friends, the light of Christ dwells in you. Others will see it. Be ready to give others the reason for the hope in you.

I will make you as a light for the nations, that my salvation may reach to the end of the earth. Isaiah 49:6

Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. Psalm 119:105
