Touch. See.

See My hands and My feet, that it is I myself; touch Me and see for a spirit does not have flesh and bones as you see that I have.” Luke 24:39 NASB

“What was from the beginning, what we have heard, what we have seen with our eyes, what we beheld and our hands handled concerning the Word of Life
And the life was manifested, and we have seen and bear witness and proclaim to you the eternal life, which was with the Father and was manifested to us-
What we have seen and heard we proclaim to you also that you also may have fellowship with us, and indeed our fellowship is with the Father, and with His Son Jesus Christ,
And these things we write, so that our joy may be made complete.” 1John 1:1-4NASB

Can you feel the joy, the urgency, the excitement that Luke and John have as they relate these truths to us? It is almost palpable.

In the passage from Luke, Yeshua plainly says He is flesh. He is no spirit. He tells the disciples He is risen. He tells the disciples to touch Him. Oh, how precious. In our flesh and blood self, we possess the need to experience truth. It isn’t just something we want in our heads. We desire proof. Physical proof. What better proof than touching Yeshua…in the flesh. They had seen Him with their eyes. They had heard His voice. Now, they can actually lay their hands on Him. The undeniable truth of His Resurrection.

How did this impact them?

Listen to John in the passage above. He can barely contain the joy and the celebration. He says, “ We saw Him. We heard Him. We handled Him.” It is a true undeniable fact… Yeshua lives.

John has such joy. His urgency in proclaiming these facts makes so much sense. John knew if a large amount of time passed before the Lord’s return, we would be skeptical. We didn’t touch. We didn’t see. We didn’t hear. John was so strong in his proclamation. He says, “I have the physical proof. This is the truth. He is risen.”

There is a Hebrew word, “yada”. It means to know by experience. That is the kind of knowing John possessed. He desperately tries to tell us he is a witness…that he knows by experience.

Think of your walk with Yeshua. What do you “yada”? What truth fills your heart till you feel you might burst? Can you proclaim His truth, His Presence in your life?
