The Moth
When I was in fourth grade, my Pappy came into the classroom one afternoon just before the bell to dismiss rang. I was a little concerned. He never came early and he never came inside when he came to pick me up.
It was February or March. He had brought treasure. There was a perfectly formed cocoon attached to a limb. He had cut the limb and brought it for the class. Our teacher, Mrs. Baker, placed the limb on the roll down map over the chalkboard at the front of the room. It remained there mostly forgotten for the rest of cold weather.
Then one day after lunch, we had begun our afternoon lessons. There was movement in the front of the room. The limb fell! One of the boys was the first one to get to that limb. A new life was emerging. We were so excited.
The teacher had everyone stand back and we watched a beautiful large moth emerge. It was brown and red and gray and white. His wings glistened. It took a while for the process to complete but there was the class treasure in all its glory.
I tell this story to remind us that a small kindness really does matter. When we remember people with love and grace, it goes a long way. Probably some things we will forget we did them. You can be sure that the one who received the love and grace does not forget.
Be encouraged. All these years later, a granddaughter remembers that grandfather who took a little extra time to do something for her and for her friends. We just never know just how far Abba God can send a little kindness or how it m ight change a life.

I so enjoyed this.
Aren’t Grandpappys, wonderful! My father was so special with my boys and Mari, I think the way they are came out is from all the interactions they had with him.
Thank you😊❤️
