The Blessing of Serving

Now He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your seed for sowing and increase the harvest of your righteousness; you will be enriched in everything for all liberality which through us is producing thanksgiving to God. For this ministry of is not only supplying the needs of the saints but is also overflowing through many thanksgivings to God.”
2 Corinthians 9:10-12 NASB

There is great joy in serving. Watching God align circumstances and people and resources…seeing everything come together to provide for those in need. Sometimes, all one can do is marvel. Other times, we must guard our hearts.

Serving is difficult work. Hours are long. Sometimes people are ungrateful. A person can put in a lot of time and effort. Sometimes compliments blur our spiritual vision. God makes the way, but have to do our part too. It is so easy to hear in the back of our head, “Why give God the credit? You are doing so much.”

It used to scare me to death when stupid stuff like this just popped in my head. Now I think, “Well, that was either the flesh or the devil. I’m gonna disregard that remark.” I have learned the secret of The Circle.

I found The Circle in scripture. 2 Corinthians 9:10-12.

God supplies the seed.

Thanks are given to God The sower (us) sows the seed

The needs of the saints are met.

It begins and ends with Him. We could not serve if He did not provide. We could not “sow” seed if He did not enable us to. Needs are met by His hand. And rightly, our Father God is given thanks and glory. Isn’t that why we were created? To give Him glory and live with Him forever?

It is difficult to explain the inner joy a person has when they see God get the praise and honor. Giving Him glory does our heart good.

Put the Circle into practice. Depend on God to provide. Work where He plants you sowing what He has given. Watch as the needs of people are met….then stand back…watch and listen. Thanksgiving and praise will be given to the Father.

Pure joy.
