Your Walk

I picture my walk with Jesus on a dirt road. Walking. Not riding. Not running. Maybe carried by Him sometimes. Just a steady walk. I don’t desire a different walk. This image is true to my relationship with Christ.

If being completely honest, I can look around and think my walk doesn’t measure up to others. I see Believers that know the scriptures more thoroughly…are schooled in theology…are super prayer warriors…powerful teachers…and in my estimation…I fall short.

How sinful of me. Paul speaks of the dangers of comparison. “For we are not bold to class or compare ourselves with some who commend themselves; but when they measure themselves by themselves, and compare themselves with themselves, they are without understanding.” 2 Corinthians 10:12 NASB

Well…comparison is not a wise activity to engage in.

Comparison robs us of so many things. For one, it takes us out of the present and we focus on someone else and their present situation. Next, we assume their walk is better than the walk we experience with Jesus.

At the end of the comparison exercise, we conclude we are less or we are superior…neither assumption correct. We are …well…just us.

We are so loved by our Creator. Hear what He says, “Can a woman forget her nursing child, and have no compassion on the son of her womb? Even these may forget, but I will not forget you. Behold, I have inscribed you on the palms of My hands; “ Isaiah 49:15-16 NASB He will not forget.. how precious.

We were designed by Him. He knew us before anyone else knew us. “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you..Jeremiah 1:5 NASB If we are inscribed on His hand…if He knew us before He formed us in the womb…aren’t we important to Him? Just as we are? Yes…

Each persons walk with Him is special . Unique. We are the only one who can walk our walk. Our relationship with Jesus is special. It will be like no one else and their walk with Jesus.

I want each one who reads this to be encouraged. Encouraged that God is with us. He loves us….and He shows up in our daily lives. I think maybe we are prone to miss Him. Perhaps He sends a glorious sunrise….a flower…a phone call….you realize a spiritual truth revealed in an everyday event…Document it.

We forget so easily, so quickly. Doubt can creep in and take our joy. But if we have a journal…we can pick it up…look at the entries and remember. Remember His Presence, His goodness and His gifts… the moments we thanked Him for all He has done. It doesn’t need to be perfectly written. It just needs to be your words the way you understood them. We can take up our journal, reflect on this walk….we can rejoice in Who He is…we can remember. Remember our walk…our walk with Him on our way home.
