When Comes the Morning
Weeping may last for the night, but a shout of joy comes in the morning. Psalm 30:5b NASB
Such true words. Baxter and I have just come through a time we label as a “dark night”. When we were in the midst of that difficult time, when the treatment for lymphoma was so difficult, we wondered when the morning would come. When would the darkness leave and light return?
While both of us felt the Father had assured us Baxter would recover from this illness, it didn’t remove the difficulty of the circumstances. Everyone… our family, friends, church, and the professionals Father had placed in our path were kind, loving, and supportive. This made the hard circumstances more bearable but did not remove them.
I’ve been listening to wonderful Easter music these last weeks.
I’ve Just Seen Jesus
Rise Again
Handel’s Messiah
Then Came the Morning and more…
Each of them proclaiming the Resurrection.
I’ve been keeping my phone on with this music playing while I feed the animals. It’s usually around 7:00 am when I go out. The sun hasn’t risen yet, but the light is coming. It is a little dim…the birds are singing…the leaves are peeking out…it is not cold… When I look around, I think, “This is how it was that early morning when the women went to the tomb.” The world beginning to wake up…still relatively quiet…This is how it felt…
Their hearts were heavy and broken. They were confused and at a loss to comprehend. The One they believed was Messiah had been murdered on a cross…
Then came the morning..Night turned into day
The stone was rolled away… Hope rose with the dawn.
Then came the morning…Shadows vanished before the sun
Death vanished before the sun. Death had lost and life had won
For morning had come. Death had lost and life had won.
For morning had come.
It seems I am unable to put into words the depth of my heart, our heart…having come through a threatening illness, a difficult treatment into the light of healing. How much greater to move from the darkness of sin and death into eternal life? To dwell in the light of His Presence?
How about a challenge? Walk outside about 7:00 am with your coffee. Look to the east. The sun is coming. Light has driven out the darkness. Every day, prophecy that He is coming.
Death has lost. Life has won.
Hallelujah!
Gwen, thank you.
