Weeds in a garden or flower bed are so discouraging. We hoe the garden rows or weed the flowers and a few days later we have it to do again. What’s the point? Well of course it is to keep our garden beautiful and productive of course.

There may be one weed I dislike above all others…wire grass.

You can pull it up and it runs through the flowers and brings them up by the root too. You think you have it all pulled and there is one little sprig with a root you miss. In a few days, there is an infestation again. It “runs” throughout the flower bed or garden and takes over if not eradicated. Mercy, it is hard to get rid of!

The best solution is to keep it out of the garden. Don’t allow it to get a “toe-hold”. If it’s never there, to begin with, you don’t have to fight so hard to get rid of it.

How many times have I thought that? About my life? Why have I allowed anything our Abba said is sin to settle in my mind or heart or life? Why can’t I recognize that if allowed in, sin is much harder to get rid of than just closing the door of opportunity for it to enter my life?

Sometimes it doesn’t look like sin…sometimes it looks ok. Sometimes other Christians have allowed it in their life and we think it is permissible.

Whatever the circumstance…however things are presented to us…we can hold it up to the Word of our Abba God and see clearly. We can keep the worst of the worst weed from taking root and taking over.

Don’t flirt with evil…guard your hearts and minds…
