New Things

I have to preface today’s blog by saying this is not original to me. I cannot find where I read it or where I heard it taught. However, it blessed me so much I have wanted to share it with everyone. I’m going to keep searching my notebooks and the recent books I’ve read so I can give credit to the author. Meanwhile, I pray it blesses everyone.

In the Revelation given to the Apostle John, we find in the twenty-first chapter, a beautiful description of the new Heaven and the new Earth…the new Jerusalem coming down from Heaven. It all sounds so stunning, so very glorious. Then in verse 5 we find,
“He who sits on the throne said, ‘Behold, I am making all things new.’ “ (NASB)

What does this mean? Just that there is a new Heaven and a new Earth? That this New Creation will begin to age as the first Creation did? That does not seem to be the case. The Greek word used for “new “ is “kainos”. It does mean new but not a “new” that will become old. This word means, “ newly made, not impaired by time or use.” In the comparative degree, the dictionary says it is “newer”.

So the New Heaven and Earth do not age. They keep being made new…new every morning, every afternoon, every evening. Never growing old.

I don’t pretend to understand the “how” of this. But I’m convinced it is only possible by the power of our Abba God. So in the Eternal Kingdom that Yeshua will usher in, it will always be new. There will be no broken limbs or busted pipes or stars burning out…always new…for Eternity.

Newer every day.
