Nature’s Symphony
Here in our part of the southern piedmont after we move past July 15 or so, a new chorus emerges. As the sun begins to go down there is a loud cacophony of insect singing. It sounds like cicadas. Sometimes in August, even with windows closed the sound is deafening. I love it. It is one signal of summer. That summer will give way to fall and a new season of sound.
The bullfrog chorus is beautiful to me. It brings back childhood memories of sitting on the back porch and listening to the bullfrogs in Daddy’s pond. Their sweet low voices singing into the night.
Then there is the morning…the darkness begins to give way to light and the birds wake up. Their voices are the happy morning symphony that brings the new day. So much activity begins. The songs are like a choir of praise to our Abba every morning. How beautiful to begin our day with their song.
Then there is the wind in the trees. I think my favorite might be the song the pine needles play as the wind moves between them. Walking through a pine forest listening to their sweet soft song, gives such a sense of peace.
There are so many songs Abba made the world to sing…the sound of water running over stones…rain falling softly…a sleeping baby’s soft breathing…children’s laughter…and on and on…
The gift, I think is to hear it. That we never walk so fast we can’t hear. That the “urgent” of the world does not remove the most “important” thing of the world which is to worship our Abba. To see and receive the simple gifts He gives. In this case, the songs He sends to remind us how much He loves us.
Amen my friend, always the sounds of nature have enthralled me and I have made my grandchildren aware of being quiet to listen, and so also our Lord speaks to us in soft quiet voice. Open your hearts, listen with attention the Lord Jehova speaks!
Beautiful!
