Enthusiasm

Enthusiasm

I am trying to arrive at a place named Enthusiasm. I don’t have any desire to walk this beautiful road with a cast down face or lack of energy. My hope is to look with joy at the present surroundings…To anticipate His goodness and provision…and to serve with a glad heart..to not grow weary. Let’s face it, this life is not a “Fun Run”. This life is more of a super marathon. Trying to work up enthusiasm after 26 miles is tough.

How do we remain enthusiastic? How does one accomplish this? How do we not grow weary?

“En Theo”. From these words, we get our word “enthusiasm”. It means, “in God”.

We see enthusiasm as an energy for doing a task well and with vigor. I”m sure it is that. But if the word comes from “En Theo”, “in God”, could that be a place? Could it be a place we dwell? The place we dwell in Him? Can it be possible the energy, the joy, the vigor we associate with enthusiasm are just the outflow of dwelling “en Theo”? Maybe these traits just come tumbling out of the one who enjoys the privilege of being “in Christ”? Is this some of the glory of God that shines in us when we dwell in Him? This true enthusiasm?

Time has a way of being an enemy of enthusiasm. We tire and fall short. It is impossible to maintain a spiritual “high” on our own. The energy level hits low. But if enthusiasm is a place we dwell…a place where we daily live in Him…enthusiasm will not register “low” in our life. As we dwell and move in Him, we will naturally exhibit joy, energy, fortitude…those visible signs of enthusiasm. We won’t need to “manufacture” enthusiasm.

True enthusiasm will be evident in our life because we dwell in Him…”En Theo”.
