Our Journey… walking home… Heaven Bound
When we receive Jesus as our Lord and Savior, we begin a journey. A journey that is a life-walk. An everyday walk. We move through our days with Him alongside us. Some days we sense His Presence strongly and some days we wonder if we are even saved. No matter what our feelings say, He is present.
My life began with our family’s home located on a dirt road. It was a regular southern red dirt road with blue rock scattered on top. Hot dry days found the dust boiling up as vehicles passed. Rainy days turned the road into sticky red mud. But, I loved that road. My grandparents lived beside us. The only space that separated our yards was the garden spot and a pond. I walked that dirt road to their house hundreds of times. It was the greatest joy. I thought I was rich to be in that place. Turns out, I was.
Maybe, that is why I see my journey with Jesus as a walk along a country dirt road. This road winds through woods…twists between pastures fenced in with barbed wire…has bright sunny days…and dark black storms ..
Always though, Jesus is present walking with me.
I have prayer time in the early morning with coffee and candles lighted. My prayer place is our sunporch. Surrounded by windows, I can see the day begin. It is a wonder to begin praying in the darkness and observe the light begin to come. The birds start to sing and the sunlight hits the top of the trees first. It is Gods first gift of the day.
As I go through the day, I talk to Him. I ask questions. Sometimes He leads me to a new understanding of scripture or a truth I’ve wondered about. I’ve found that keeping a journal to remember His daily gifts and wonders has been a remarkable tool to recount His blessings…His gifts…His leading…My family and friends have been asking me to share from my journal. Their encouragement reenforced the inner prompting I’d been experiencing.
I am no author. I have no personal ability that qualifies me to write. But I do have things I’ve learned from scripture, from Him, from walking this dirt road life. I’m just gonna share with you. Share as we walk our “roads”.
Some of us walk a city street…some walk an interstate highway…a state paved road…and others fly off in jet planes on unmarked paths in the sky. We all, however, have our life walk. Would you like to walk a while together? With Him? On this dirt road?
Come let’s walk together with Jesus…on this dirt road home.
